5 pasta sauces to make your pasta creamy and yummy in 10 minutes

The beauty of pasta is how little it asks from you. A pot of salted water, a handful of noodles, and ten minutes later you have the canvas for something comforting. What makes it shine is the sauce and that doesn’t have to mean hours of simmering or complicated tricks. Some of the best sauces are quick, almost lazy, built from whatever the kitchen gives you. Here are five that turn a weeknight into something softer, creamier, and far more delicious than the effort behind them.

2/6

Garlic cream

It begins with a sizzle. Butter melts, garlic hits the pan, and the kitchen suddenly smells like you’ve done more than you actually have. In goes a splash of cream, black pepper swirled in with the spoon, and the sauce thickens before you even notice. Toss in pasta and it clings silkily, sharp with parmesan if you choose, freshened by a scatter of parsley. The flavour is old-school, unfussy, and deeply satisfying.

3/6

Tomato mascarpone

Tomatoes carry brightness, but on their own they can feel sharp. That’s where mascarpone steps in. Stirred into a quick tomato base, just puree simmered with olive oil and a hint of chilli, it turns everything mellow, velvety, almost romantic. A basil leaf torn over the top makes it sparkle. The sauce is ready by the time your pasta drains, tasting as if you’ve spent an evening cooking when really it took minutes.

4/6

Mushroom thyme

Mushrooms are generous like that - they release their juices, brown at the edges, and create flavour before you’ve done much at all. Add cream, a pinch of thyme, maybe a grating of nutmeg, and suddenly you have something earthy and full. The sauce soaks the pasta, turning it into a bowl that feels cosy and grounding, best eaten when you need food that warms more than just the stomach.

5/6

Pesto cream

Pesto already knows how to charm, but swirl in cream and it changes character completely. What was punchy and herbal becomes rich, soft, indulgent. Two spoons of pesto, half a cup of cream, and a drizzle of the pasta’s starchy water - that’s all it takes. It clings to fusilli like silk, nutty and green, the kind of shortcut that makes you feel clever rather than lazy.

6/6

Alfredo classic

Some sauces never fall out of style. Alfredo is butter, cream and parmesan melting into one another, nothing more complicated than that. A pinch of black pepper cuts the richness, a whisper of nutmeg adds warmth, and suddenly you understand why it became famous. It’s creamy without doubt, indulgent without guilt, the sort of sauce that makes you grateful for pasta’s gift of simplicity.
