Foods to avoid with Shilajit

Shilajit is one of the most powerful & miraculous Ayurvedic herbs that have been associated with sexual health. However, it’s a miraculous herb that can help cure several types of health issues. It is mostly consumed to increase the masculinity and sexual ability of men, as it can help boost testosterone levels while increasing the sperm count. This herb also helps to reduce fatigue and stress, along with colds & coughs. Thus, it is an incredible herb that can offer multiple health benefits. Shilajit is often consumed in the form of pills or powder and is best consumed with water or milk. However, do you know, that there are several foods that must be avoided with Shilajit as that can cause several issues? Read more. (Images courtesy: Canva)

2/6

Heavy meals

Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of eating carefully. While consuming Shilajit, it is advised to stay away from heavy foods as they can cause heartburn, gas and acidity problems. Apart from this, one should also avoid eating Kulthi Dal (Horse gram) and Chane & Chole (Black & white chickpeas). If such foods are consumed, they can reduce the effects of Shilajit.

3/6

Spicy food

Eating spicy food is fun, but it is not good for your health in any way, especially if you are consuming Shilajit. Spicy food can also reduce the effect of this herb. Actually, spicy food can increase Pitta Dosha, and due to this imbalance, the benefits of Shilajit can be reduced.

4/6

Citrus fruits

When someone is taking Shilajit, they should avoid consuming sour fruits. Even though citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C, they are also known for their acidic nature. Consuming Shilajit and sour fruits together can cause indigestion and acidity, due to which the body does not get the benefits of both.

5/6

Meat & fish

It is often recommended not to consume meat and fish simultaneously with Shilajit. This advice is rooted in Ayurvedic principles, suggesting that combining Shilajit with animal proteins might interfere with its absorption and efficacy. Ayurveda emphasizes maintaining proper food combinations to optimize digestion and enhance the body's ability to absorb nutrients. Therefore, to fully harness Shilajit's benefits, it is suggested to avoid pairing it with meat and fish.

6/6

Honey

In traditional Ayurvedic practice, it is advised not to consume honey with Shilajit. Ayurveda suggests that mixing honey with Shilajit could potentially neutralize Shilajit's beneficial properties. Honey's heating effect and Shilajit's potency might counteract each other, diminishing their individual effectiveness. As per Ayurvedic principles, it's recommended to take Shilajit separately to preserve its potent medicinal qualities and allow it to work optimally within the body.

Ok first of all, saying eating spicy food has absolutely zero health benefits is so ignorant that it made me want to stop reading the entire article. If you're going to spread awareness, spread factual awareness as there is MANY health benefits that come from capsaicin (main substance in hot peppers), from alleviating digestive issues, to strong pain relief. So get factual. Secondly what do you even mean it isn't Ayuverdic practice to consume shilajit with honey as honey counteracts it? Where are you getting your information because that is also wildly inaccurate. In fact it's recommended to take shilajit WITH honey as it INCREASES absorption. Not the other way around. Learn your facts before spouting off misinformation on a subject you clearly know nothing about.
