TV celebs love for chai

A crisp, cold morning and a steaming, fragrant cup of chai – what else does one want to lift one’s spirits? From Darjeeling and Assam tea to lemongrass and kulhad wali chai, there are plenty of options to choose from. We speak to TV celebs, including Varun Badola and Delnaaz Irani, among others about their preferred winter chai, and what makes it their favourite concoction.

'I love Bombay special masala chai on the sets of our show': Bhumika Gurung

Chai is one of my favourite winter beverages. I love Bombay Special Masala Chai on the sets of our show, Nimki Vidhayak.Apart from the masala chai,I also occasionally enjoy saffron-infused Kahwa green tea or herbal tea, especially when I catch cold. My mom used to make this special tea for me. I also prepare Assam tea for my co-stars on the sets of my show. (Image Courtesy: Official Instagram page)

‘Moroccan Mint Tea us my all-time favourite': Delnaaz Irani

Being a die-hard chai lover,I enjoy making tea as much as I love drinking it. My lemongrass tea is special and loved by my friends and family. I love to experiment with my chai. The adrak masala chai is one of my favourites, but yes, the Moroccan Mint is my all-time favourite. I cannot start my day without a cup of tea. (Image Courtesy: Official Instagram page)

‘English breakfast tea is one of my favourites': Pakhuri Awasthy

I love my tea with less milk and adequate sugar. When I go out, I usually order an English Breakfast Tea with milk and sugar on the side. I got into the habit of tea drinking quite late. Now, it is my go-to drink. Whether I am going out with friends or I need something to keep me up during night shoots, I have a cup of tea ready. (Image Courtesy: Official Instagram page)

My dad loves tea and it is like a routine for us to have chai par charcha whenever I visit home. Recently, even on the sets of Jijaji Chhat Per Hain, we celebrated our 500 episodes completion with special elaichi tea along with garma garam pakode. It was a great experience to make tea for everyone on the set. (Image Courtesy: Official Instagram page)

Teatime is a relaxation time for me. I remember when tea used to be my partner during exams in nights. Out of all the wonderful variants of chai, my all-time favourite is masala tea and kulhad chai. It instantly makes me feel better because of all the spices that are added to it. (Image Courtesy: Official Instagram page)

‘Homemade chai with creamy milk is the best': Varun Badola

Chai ki chuski, aur apno ka saath – this very much sums up the perfect evening for me. There isn’t a day when I don’t take some time out and discuss life with my wife over a cup of chai. Being a chai lover, I have tried different varieties of chai but the best one is the one that my wife makes at home – desi chai with creamy milk. We love enjoying it together on our balcony. ‘Herbal tea is a wonderful alternative to sugart drinks': Mudit Nayar

I feel that drinking herbal tea instead of any other drink is the best thing one can gift to his or her body. It is one of the healthiest drinks, full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Herbal tea is a great alternative to sugary and caffeinated drinks. It has a great taste and gives a natural boost to your day. It comes in so many flavours that you can easily find a taste of your choice. (Image Courtesy: Official Instagram page)

I like to start my day with a cup of green tea with lemon and honey. I still remember the taste and texture of the freshly-brewed tea leaves. I love having Kangra tea. (Image Courtesy: Official Instagram page)

‘Morning tea that my wife makes is the best tea': Paresh Ganatra

I remember when I was very young and my mom was not around, and my grandma asked me if I wanted to have a cup of tea, and I readily agreed. That was my first ever cup of tea. Ever since my daily intake of chai has gone up. Every day, I relish at least two cups of chai. I sit with my wife every morning for 10 minutes and discuss various topics over a cup of tea.
