Fashion trendsetters of the year

The world of fashion always craves fresh perspective or rewinding old vintage touches with a unique or contemporary blend. Mixing cool new ideas with classic styles, or bringing in the runway fashion with high-tech makeovers, 2024 saw new heights of sartorial changes. This year, we saw many fashion minds breaking free from their limitations and setting in new rays of high-fashion which quickly became popular and caught the attention of the masses. From OTT queen Shalini Passi to self-taught designer and fashion influencer Nancy Tyagi, let’s take a look at 5 fashion game-changers we noticed this year.

Nancy Tyagi

A small fashion influencer from the suburbs of Delhi became an overnight star as she walked down the red carpet of the Met Gala 2024 in May. Capturing the headlines, she’s India’s first self-taught designer, model, and stylist, who walked on the French Riviera and has a keen knowledge of fashion and design. Crafting a stunning pink tulle gown for the red carpet with her 30 days and 1,000 meters of silhouette, she proved her mettle and instantly became the talk of the town.

Sabyasachi (Mukherjee)

The Bengal tiger roared loudly this year and became the first Indian designer to walk the Met Gala’s red carpet this year. Wearing a stunning vintage show from his own Resort 2024 collection, from the layering to the handpicked jewels, Sabyasachi proved his fashion prowess and played iconically with emeralds, tourmalines, and pearls on the red carpet, sparking headlines and making heads turn.

Rohit Bal

Creating a big void in the Indian fashion industry, ace fashion designer Rohit Bal passed away in November bidding his last goodbye. However, he created magic one last time with his Kaaynat collection filled with his signature velvet anarkalis, stunning silks, and lotus-print angrakhas, which had a beautiful touch of his homeland Kashmir. Bollywood actress Ananya Panday, turned showstopper for the event, as the designer bid adieu to the fashion world.
