Inviting the trolls on the internet

2024 saw some unforgettable fashion moments that disappointed fans and sparked significant criticism online. Certain celebrity looks left a lasting impression for all the wrong reasons. From Aishwarya Rai’s overly blingy Cannes appearance to Bhumi Pednekar’s controversial pregnant armoUr outfit, let’s take a quick look at some of the biggest fashion fails that made waves on the red carpet this year.

Aishwarya Rai’s Cannes 2024 Looks

Aishwarya Rai is one of the most anticipated Indian celebrities at Cannes each year, known for her fashion prowess. However, this year, she disappointed with her choices. The diva first wore a blingy blue and silver Falguni Shane Peacock gown, followed by a black-and-white floor-length gown that missed the mark entirely. The look was marred by absurd accessories, and her hair and makeup didn’t do justice to her beauty, leaving fans underwhelmed.

Bhumi Pednekar's armour

Bhumi Pednekar faced brutal trolling on social media after attending a fashion event in Mumbai, and rightfully so. Known for her bold fashion choices, she donned an off-white ethnic outfit paired with a strange transparent armour featuring golden snakes. The outfit looked confusing and, to make matters worse, gave her the appearance of being pregnant. The mellow hair and makeup only added to the misstep, making this one of her fashion fails.

Doja Cat’s Met Gala look

Doja Cat’s Met Gala look featured a wet white evening gown that resembled something she’d worn straight out of a steam bath. The concept could have been executed better, but it turned out to be a disaster and missed the mark on the Met Gala’s theme. To add to the confusion, the singer wore metallic silver teardrops under her smoky eyes, enhancing the wet aesthetic but failing to impress, making the look a complete turnoff.

Ira Khan’s ‘unusual’ bridal look

Ira Khan’s bridal look took an unconventional turn, which invited criticism and trolling on her wedding day. She wore pastel pink harem pants paired with a blue velvet blouse, and draped a net dupatta over her shoulders. Rather than opting for a heavy lehenga or traditional jewelry, she chose Kolhapuri chappals, which undermined the uniqueness of her outfit and was widely considered a letdown for a bride’s big day.

Tarun Tahiliani’s uniforms at the 2024 Paris Olympics

Tarun Tahiliani, known for his Bollywood creations, designed the Indian athletes’ uniforms for the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, the uniforms lacked the flair and style expected from a designer of his caliber. Compared to the other countries’ uniforms, the Indian attire appeared dull and uninspired, leading people to question Tahiliani’s creativity and commitment to the project. The result was a lackluster design that was widely considered a fashion disaster.
