Veteran designer Pallavi Jaikishan celebrates four decades in the industry, starting this August upto August 2013. The first in a line of many celebrations will see Pallavi showcasing her creations for the first time at the
Lakme Fashion Week today. As she readies for her first-ever show at LFW, she points out that the timing couldn’t have been better. “I wanted to celebrate this milestone by doing something new.
LFW sounded like the ideal platform,” she says. Known for couture as well as bridal wear, Pallavi has worked on four breathtaking collections for the forthcoming fashion week in her signature style that blends traditional hand embroideries with modern day silhouettes, on specially woven fabrics with real zari. It’s going to be a modern day collection of lehengas, saris, jackets and tunics.
Pallavi started her journey in the Indian fashion world without any formal training. “I remember making my own clothes as a teenager. I’d always be curious about different embroideries and fabrics. Even my friends would ask me for advice regarding their clothes,” she shares. All this and more will hopefully be in her autobiography as well, on which she plans to work on soon.
