From the Ring to the Rituals

When two of South Indian cinema’s most renowned celebrities get married, it is a personal milestone that sends the internet into a frenzy. This is what happened today, as India’s national crush Rashmika Mandanna tied the knot with her co-star Vijay Deverakonda in Udaipur. While the fans are busy looking for the traditional drapes, we’re zooming in on the jewellery.

Rashmika’s temple jewellery with heritage weight

The beautiful shade of orangish-red drape looked absolutely stunning with her temple jewellery. This South Indian traditional jewellery is known for its intricate motifs, working around Goddess Lakshmi, peacocks, and floral carvings. The diva started with a heavy golden choker with a statement round pendant and layered it with sleek, long chains. She matched its prowess with traditional golden-chained jhumkas, which were attached to the back of her hair. The bride and the groom wore jewellery from Shree Jewellers, Hyderabad.

    Royalty at its peak

The bride looked as if she were walking out of a Mani Ratnam film, where she further opted for a stack of golden bangles and kadas, which reportedly came from the groom’s family, and had red traditional stacks as well. Rashmika completed the jewellery show with her floral-motif hath phool, a stunning elbow cuff with small beaded chains; her fashionable engagement ring; and a series of traditional gold ones.

But you don’t just leave out the groom!

If you think Rashmika’s look was over the top, then wait till you see the gold on Vijay Deverakonda. Where celebrity grooms opt for a sleek diamond chain and a single brooch, he sat bare-chested and wore a statement snake-chain necklace with a long temple-style layer, with matching ear studs and a warrior-like gold-drenched handcuff. Flaunting his engagement ring, he added another gold ring and stole the show.

Not your usual South Indian bride and groom

The couple might be far away from their hometown, but each brought the South Indian drama to Rajasthan and got married looking like true royals. The jewellery worn by both tells a cohesive fashion story that revolves around balance, heritage, and quiet luxury. But, above all, it tells a tale of their culture, which looked dazzling but grounded at the same time.

    Setting new goals

The wedding certainly showcased how to do it right, how to stay connected to your roots and how to not fall for minimalism, because it is not for everyone.
