Upping the fashion ante in iconic ensembles

Indian personalities Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli first made their red carpet appearance in 2015, and since then the power couple of Bollywood has been serving up some serious style inspiration. One of the most documented couples in India, the duo always makes it a point to stay on trend with their iconic sartorial choices. Amidst the retirement rumours of the cricketer, catch the duo off-duty in both vogue and normcore fashion aesthetics.

Double trouble in boardroom aesthetics

Keeping up with the changing trends and aesthetics, the couple’s red carpet game has only gotten better with time. At the 2017 Indian Sports Honours Awards in Mumbai, where Virat Kohli picked a classic navy blue suit with a matching satin tie and a crisp white shirt tucked inside the blazer, Anushka Sharma also embraced her bold, feminine charm and made heads turn in a pantsuit. She cheered him in a fiery red Nikhil Thampi pantsuit featuring a cinched waistline with a matching belt that looked absolutely voguish.

Traditional vibes and iconic styles

When the duo is not working their athleisure-heavy fashion aesthetic or attending a major black-tie event, they seamlessly glide into their ethnic ensembles for traditional festivities. For their first Diwali together, after tying the knot in 2018, Virat Kohli was spotted in an off-white knee-length kurta and teamed it with matching dhoti-style pants. Complemented him in a plain caramel-hued saree, Anushka wore a statement traditional high neckline blouse and accessorised it with a statement necklace.

Never a dull moment together

Contradicting their staple low-key demeanour, the couple raised the fashion bar with their iconic New Year's Eve celebration fits in Australia. Virat Kohli stepped out in a grey textured jacket with a plain back crew-neckline t-shirt tucked inside, with matching chino pants. However, the ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ star was spotted in a sparkling heavy sequinned one-sided off-shoulder dress that came with a daring thigh-high slit.

The vision of pastels became a trend

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wedding outfits were dipped in pastel pink grace, starting the trend of incorporating pale-pastel hues in wedding outfits and settings. Walking down the aisle in a beautiful Sabyasachi creation, she wore an intricate handwork lehenga with delicate jadau jewellery, which included pearls, uncut diamonds, and pale pink spinels. Moving away from the traditional Indian red bridal outfit for her ceremony, her vision of pastels soon became a fashion movement. Complementing his bride, Virat Kohli sported an ivory raw silk sherwani with hand-embroidered vintage Banarasi pattern detailing and completed the look with a rose silk kota turban, aka safa.

A touch of royal grace

After wearing pastel notes for their wedding, Anushka and Virat chose to follow the traditional Indian colours with the magic of royalty for their Delhi reception. The actress wore a classic red Banarasi saree with rich gold weaves, picked from the selection of fashion maestro Sabyasachi. She completed the look with a matching red traditional blouse with gold embellishments. On the other hand, Virat Kohli wore a black knee-length sherwani with stand collars and teamed it with an intricately crafted traditional dupatta and rolled out a white satin churidar.
