Nostalgia is already hitting hard!

It’s hard to believe that Yash Chopra’s magical love story ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, starring Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan, was released three decades ago. And after 30 years, fans got a glimpse of their favourite on-screen couple, Raj and Simran, dressed in proper Yash Chopra-coded aesthetics. Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol travelled to London to unveil the bronze statue of their iconic roles in the film, where the statue depicts the central characters in a signature pose.

Why is this worth remembering?

The beautiful bronze statue was unveiled on Thursday in Leicester Square, where many of the scenes from the film were shot. ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ is the first Indian film to receive such recognition and is now part of the celebrated scenes in the Square Trail. This bronze installation joins statues honoring popular characters from the films ‘Paddington’, ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Mary Poppins’, and ‘Singin' in the Rain’.

Yash Ji’s fashion aesthetics

India’s most celebrated director and producer, Yash Chopra, was known for his films’ costumes. He mostly used to choose pastel and subtle yet vibrant shades with oversized and flowy silhouettes for his leading characters, which gave them a dreamy yet iconic look that remained with the fans for years. From Sridevi’s yellow saree and white saree collection in ‘Chandni’ to Rekha’s pastel blue and pink chiffon sarees from ‘Silsila’, every costume has remained with the audience, making his fashion aesthetics as unique as him.

Kajol’s pastel saree brings back Yash Ji’s memories

For the grand day, Kajol draped a stunning mint green chiffon drape, which came with a fluid yet translucent vibe that looked subtle, chic, and iconic. It was properly fall-coded and brought back the signature Yash Ji’s chiffon charm with a plain and minimalistic edge. Kajol teamed the look with a matching Anne-Cut blouse featuring a structured sweetheart neckline with a fitted full-sleeve design and had subtle tassel detailing along the cuff hemlines.

SRK’s all-black monochrome look

Shah Rukh Khan was seen spreading his charm and chose a plain black crew neckline t-shirt with which he paired a straight-fit tailored black pants, and quickly layered this casual look with a black fitted blazer. As he rolled his sleeves up, Shah Rukh amplified this hunky fit check with a pair of black glares and complemented it with a pair of black dress shoes. The blend of polished office dressing with a casual throw-in suited his personality and looked perfectly in contrast with Kajol’s pastel charm.
