Oscars 2019: Meet the red carpet head-turners

The biggest fashion extravaganza of world cinema - 91st Academy Awards kick-started at Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles and no prizes for guessing the red carpet was set on fire, thanks to the choicest of gowns, risque dresses and sexy pantsuits donned by some of most gorgeous women in the world. And hey, menfolk were not faraway too - they tried everything from pink tuxedos to gowns! While we loved every bit of the red carpet, here's a look at some ensembles that completely stole the show.

LadyGaga was her dramatic best at the red carpet, channeling her inner Audrey Hepburn, the singer slayed in an off-shoulder black gown by Alexander McQueen and finished off the classic look with wearing a 128.5 carat diamond necklace worn by Tiffany & Co.

As a true tribute to late Karl Lagerfeld, Jason donned a blush pink tuxedo. Mr Khal Drogo accessorised his look with a cute baby pink scrunchie (a hair band) for his sexy mane.

Much loved veteran actor Glenn Close wore a 40 pound (yes, you read that right!) golden beaded cape gown by Carolina Herrera and she reminded us of nothing but the Oscar statuette. What a beauty!

The stunning Rachel Weisz dared to wear a blood red latex dress to the red carpet - a floor-length dress with a short-sleeved top by Givenchy Couture.

'The Pose' actor wore an unimaginable tuxedo gown to the event - a Christian Siriano gown and the internet was quick enough to call it the 'look of the day'.

Tennis star Serena Williams looked gorgeous in a black mermaid strapless gown with a ruby-red panel on the top part of the ensemble.

The 'Crazy Rich Asians' star Awkwafina got maximum cheers for her blingy pantsuit by Dsquared2. She finished off the look with a clutch which was actually a tequila sipper. Talk about innovation on the red carpet.
