Not many women get to break rules or set them. And pregnancy is said to be a challenge in a woman's life, especially in India, but millennial women know how to enjoy this beautiful phase of their lives and some even manage to set goals for other women to follow. Popular Instagrammer, Masoom Minawala did just that as she sashayed across the ramp, flaunting her beautiful baby bump at the recently concluded FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week 2022.

Often dubbed as the face of Indian fashion, Minawala is a global influencer, having made memorable appearances at Paris Fashion Week, Festival de Cannes etc. And, when approached by designer duo Gauri & Nainika, she didn't shy away from walking the ramp despite her pregnancy.

We reached out to the fashion icon to know about her experience of walking the ramp and this is what she said.

“It feels surreal to be a showstopper in such a powerful phase of my life. Gauri & Nainika's designs have always made me feel empowered, and their collection, 'Midnight Botanica,' is a true reflection of my personal style. Crafted from fabrics made from recycled bottles, the fluid and breezy silhouettes are something you can walk, dance, and be yourself in. It truly was an evening to celebrate the strength of women.”

Masoom closed the very exquisite show wearing a pristine, white, will-power, corset gown with an intricately draped back that flowed into a luxurious, fabric trail. She styled the look with some jewellery from Lion Jewellers and white shoes from The Cai Store.

For Gauri and Nainika, florals have always been the mainstay of their design sensibility, which was once again visible by botanical inspirations throughout the ensembles as blossoms appeared delicately on fabrics. The designers also brought in the beautiful rose print to further emphasise the femininity of the collection.

When it came to silhouettes, classic corsetry was in focus with Greco-Roman inspired fluted bodices over fluid, flowing drapes. Halters, off-shoulder accents, dramatic one-shoulder visions along with rouching and detailing created that ultra-glam style story on the catwalk. Gauri and Nainika ensured the collection was ideal for diverse body shapes and offered a relaxed, laidback elegance that will be favoured by a wide cross section of buyers.
