Celebs wear vibrant colours as tie-dye print continues to trend

What’s one summer special print that you have to have in your wardrobe? It’s most definitely the hyper-euphoric tie-dye. The tie-dye created a buzz in the year 2020 and continues to rage in 2021. Be it co-ord sets, crop tops or loungewear hoodies, t-shirts or saris, tie-and-dye continues to be in print this year as well. From the classic spirals and swirls to diamonds and crumple, our showbiz stars have been spotted sporting these tie-dye printed outfits in the last few months.

Paint your rainbow with the classic tie-dye tee

The fashion fad of the 60s and 70s returns as a summer fashion trend after every few years. The hippie and bohemian vibe of the classic tie-dye t-shirt was carried flawlessly by Hina Khan. She sported the spiral print crop top while going to her gym.

DIY-ers revived the tie-dye trend

Delhi-based designer Navya Kapoor tells us that 2020 revived the tie-dye print. People started indulging in a lot of DIY activities during the 2020 lockdown and beyond that. While some tried their hands at cooking, many upcycled their old clothes and ended up creating beautiful and colourful tie-dyed clothes. She adds, “Your clothes are your armour. In the pandemic times, wearing vibrant colours and patterns help to spread positivity and that is why the ‘tie-dye renaissance’ has emerged.”

Up your cool quotient with this print

Alia Bhatt’s fashion game is always on point. If you are someone who follows Alia’s style statement, you can’t miss her cool yet chic tie-dye tees while she hits the gym and twins with her bestie Akansha Ranjan Kapoor or completes the look with denim shorts for an outing.

Drape the tie-and-dye sari

Lahariya, Bandhani tie-dye techniques are big on traditional wear. Fabrics like cotton, chiffon, organza or georgette look lovely with tie-dye print in the brightest of colours. Designer Priyanka Jain, who styled Monica Dogra in a green and off-white striped tie-dye sari says, “The technique forms its own abstract patterns which makes it exciting for the designers to play with. Due to the novelty you get to work with each time you use the technique, it’s an extremely creative process.”

The colourful tie-dye goes black-white

Tie-dye is known for being colourful, however, it looks great in muted tones and monochromes as well. Celebs like Mouni Roy and Karishma Tanna styled themselves in black and white lounge wear. While Mouni opted for a three-piece set, Karishma slayed in a tie-dye crop top with high-waist slit joggers. For both, the look was completed by a pair of sneakers.

Preggers choose the flowy outfits with tie-dye swirls

Ishq Vala Love singer Neeti Mohan announced her pregnancy on social media while wearing a sunshine yellow dress. Tie-dye print has an inherent flow and vibe that makes it a go-to print for maternity fashion.

A pop of colour

Add a pop of colour with tie-dye. If you plan to wear a shibori tie-dye t-shirt like Avneet Kaur, team it up with a plain pair of shorts. Or take a cue from Ananya Panday, who styled her blue and white tie-dye denims with a plain white crop top. Without being too jarring to the eye, a plain top or lower, makes the tie-dye look brighter.
