From the best in occasionwear to casuals and classic designs, day two of Delhi Times Fashion Week (DTFW), presented by Obello Life, powered by DANJ Entertainment and co-powered by Cantabil, had a diverse range of collections on display. The splendid shows, put together by 12 designers at The Grand, New Delhi, received appreciation from guests who attended the fashion extravaganza. Here’s a round-up of day two of DTFW:
Who’s the star? House of Surya

The show by House of Surya had a mix of lehengas and saris in muted shades and intricate embroidery. “The collection was called Nazm. We wanted to present the collection with each outfit intricately designed for the bride and the family so that they feel like a star when they wear it,” said Raghav Mittal from House of Surya.
Sari, not sorry - Bilasa: Handloom Emporium

The show, presented by Chhattisgarh Tourism, was an ode to artisans and weavers of the state, with a focus on textiles from the region. Fabrics like kosa and tussar silk were the highlight of the collection. Gaurav Dwivedi, advisor to the Chhattisgarh government, walked the ramp in a traditional dhoti, kurta and bundee. “It was a great experience and a proud moment for me to be at DTFW and promote kosa silk of Chhattisgarh,” he said.
Sari love - Ekta Akhouri and Mala Munde

Saris and lehengas with chikankari, thread embroidery and mirror work were the highlights of Ekta Akhouri and Mala Munde’s collection. The designers said, “We wanted to make sure that the saris we showcase on the ramp should be easy to carry in summer months.”
Keeping it casual - Rashmi Chhabra

Rashmi Chhabra’s collection, Billi by Rashmi Chabbra, was a break from traditional designs. Sequined shorts and bomber jackets, shirts with sequined patterns and denim, shirt dresses and tank tops and pants, the casual collection was for every young woman. “Comfort and style is the most important thing right now. It is the collection that anyone from any age group can wear,” said Rashmi.
Handloom chic - Priya MohapatraDesigner Priya Mohapatra worked with textiles and crafts from Odisha for this collection. She gave a modern makeover to handloom and presented cool summer dresses, cotton shorts and co-ord sets. “We have to work towards making handloom modern and cool for youngsters. They should feel proud to own and wear handloom outfits,” said Priya.
Back to basics - Prashant Majumdar

Designer Prashant Majumdar’s collection was for those who prefer traditional styles. He said, “Everyone is preparing for some wedding right now. So, this collection has been designed keeping weddings in mind.”
Royal charm - Arvind Ampula

Arvind Ampula’s couture show displayed a range of lehengas and wedding wear with gold zardozi and dabka work. While the bridal collection had bright shades, the designer presented muted shades in his men’s collection. “I’ve taken inspiration from the Amber Fort in Jaipur for embroidery. I wanted the collection to reflect the royal heritage of Rajasthan,” said the designer.
Traditional best - Mukesh Dubey

Designer Mukesh Dubey’s collection was designed keeping the opulence and grandeur of Indian weddings in mind. “I always get a great response on showcasing my collection at DTFW, I love being part of this event,” he said.
Retro revival -Kingshuk Bhaduri

Kingshuk Bhaduri’s show was all about retro vibes with wide-legged trousers and fitted shirts with big collars. There were a lot of gender-fluid outfits. He said, “Since it was a retro showcase, I wanted to work with black. I think that black is the colour for all occasions.”
For millennial brides - Arshi Singhal

For modern brides who want to look sexy and feel comfortable on their big day, designer Arshi Singhal presented an easy-to-wear collection. “I wanted to showcase what millennial brides want. This collection combines Indian craftsmanship with modern cuts and designs,” she said.
Regal touch - Amit GT

Amit GT’s collection, presented by DANJ, of sexy cocktail gowns and lehengas was inspired by Mediterranean art. With sheer fabrics embellished with tassels, thread and gold embroidery, the collection was best for cocktail evenings and destination weddings. The designer, who did a physical ramp show after a long break, said, “I am so happy to be back to doing a physical ramp show after so long. It was so much fun.”
Classics rule - DC by Sufi Sabri

Sufi Sabri’s collection had bright yellow, green and orange for men. He said, “It is for the festive season and wedding wear.”
