This post humously published novel is the 17th part of Clive Cussler's NUMA Files series.
The story starts in ancient Egypt, in the year 1074 where considerable wealth disappears from the Valley of the Kings. The story moves to 1927 where an aviator is attempting a transatlantic journey from America and he mysteriously vanishes.
In modern times, the NUMA team is at sea and manages to rescue shipwrecked sailors in Scotland just in time. The team consists of Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala who get attacked by a helicopter and then rescued by a beautiful MI5 agent. Together they must hunt down the lost ancient treasure before, the Bloodstone Group, an international gang of dangerous thieves and arms dealers who steal ancient relics, find it out.
The book is filled with action from start to finish. It is a hard book to put down for the pace never drops and it seems the protagonists are always going through a critical part of the plot. The old characters show some interesting growth and the new ones are easy to like, if a little cliche. The book is a must-read for any Cussler fan.
