Literature is known for its many famous romances and heartbreaks. Whether it is Romeo and Juliet, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth, or Scarlett O' Hara and Rhett Butler - all have defined romance and love for literary enthusiasts in different ways. Furthermore, several lines and letters from classic romance novels have made their way into the hearts of millennials. Thus, here’s a look at 5 love letters from books that will pierce your heart and make you believe in love even more.

At the end of this classic novel, Captain Wentworth writes Anne a letter that could be described as one of the most romantic lines ever written in literature.

Wentworth writes:

"You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago. Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you."

From their meeting in 1921, Vladimir's letters to his beloved Véra form a narrative arc that tells a forty-six year-long love story, and they are memorable in their entirety.

"My tenderness, my happiness, what words can I write for you? How strange that although my life's work is moving pen over paper, I don't know how to tell you how I love you, how I desire you. Such agitation — and such divine peace: melting clouds immersed in sunshine — mounds of happiness. This letter showcases how author F. Scott Fitzgerald professed his love to his wife Zelda, and how she reciprocated in turn.

Zelda Fitzgerald wrote the following in the spring of 1919:

"There’s nothing in all the world I want but you and your precious love. All the material things are nothing. I’d just hate to live a sordid, colorless existence because you’d soon love me less and less and I’d do anything — anything — to keep your heart for my own. I don’t want to live—I want to love first, and live incidentally… Don’t—don’t ever think of the things you can’t give me. You’ve trusted me with the dearest heart of all—and it’s so damn much more than anybody else in all the world has ever had."

A recent one, 'P.S. I Still Love You' is filled with heartwarming romantic love letters.
