Flt Lt Gunjan Saxena (retd) was the first ever woman to join the Indian Air Force (IAF) and go to a war. She has now written an autobiography titled 'The Kargil Girl', which is co-authored by Kiran Nirvan and is published by Penguin India.

While the fictional movie based on Saxena's inspiring story of grit and determination released in August 2020, Saxena's autobiography released a few days later on August 17 this year.

Sharing the news about the book, publisher Penguin India posted on social media:

Saxena retired from IAF in 2004; there was no provision of permanent commission for women back then. Meanwhile, few people know that Kiran Nirvan is the pseudonym for authors Kirandeep Singh and Nirvan Singh. Earlier they wrote '21 Kesaris: The Untold Story of the Battle of Saragarhi' which was adapted into a film of the same name.
