For fans of the 'Bridgerton' series, March brought with it some good news when season II of the much-loved television drama series was released to much appreciation and applaud. Based on Julia Quinn's novels set in the competitive world of Regency-era London, 'Bridgerton' became the most-watched series on an online streaming platform at the time of its premiere, and remains the second most-watched series by total watch time on the platform. Thus, here are five books to read if you loved 'Bridgerton'.

This novel follows the life of Jeremy Malcolm, who is searching for a wife, but not just any wife. As the target of matchmaking mothers and desperate debutantes, he is determined to avoid the fortune hunters and find a near-perfect woman, one who will meet the qualifications on his well-crafted list.

​'Emma' by Jane Austen

It is a novel about youthful hubris and romantic misunderstandings. It is set in the fictional country village of Highbury and the surrounding estates of Hartfield, Randalls and Donwell Abbey, and involves the relationships among people from a small number of families. In this, Austen explores the concerns and difficulties of genteel women living in Georgian–Regency England.

​'Royal Holiday' by Jasmine Guillory

It is the fourth in a series that starts with the 'Wedding Date', about a couple who have a meet in an elevator on the way to a wedding. But you don’t need to have read the whole series to enjoy this, as it focuses on a side character whisked to England to help style a new American member of the royal family, only to have her mother fall for a high-ranking courtier.

​'Red, White and Royal Blue' by Casey McQuiston

Set in a world in which a female Democrat from Texas wins the presidency in 2016, the novel chronicles the illicit romance between the president's son, Georgetown senior Alex Claremont-Diaz, and Prince Henry of Wales, his childhood nemesis.

​'Shadow & Bone' by Leigh Bardugo

This novel is narrated by Alina Starkov, a teenage orphan who grows up in the Russia-inspired land of Ravka when, unexpectedly harnessing a power she never knew she had to save her childhood best friend, she becomes a target of intrigue and violence. It is the first book in the 'Shadow and Bone' trilogy, followed by 'Siege and Storm' and 'Ruin and Rising'.
