This is the best hair oil to mix with coconut oil to grow hair on bald patches

In Indian homes, coconut oil has always been the base for almost every hair oil mix. From childhood champis to grandmother’s remedies, it’s the one oil everyone trusts. But if you’re dealing with thinning hair or small bald patches, coconut oil on its own often isn’t enough. That’s where adding castor oil can make a real difference.

2/5

Effective blend

Castor oil has been used in India for generations, especially for hair growth. It’s thick, sticky, and not the most pleasant to use alone, but it’s powerful. It’s rich in fatty acids and helps improve blood circulation to the scalp, which is important when you’re trying to wake up inactive hair follicles.

When you mix castor oil with coconut oil, it becomes much easier to apply and far less messy. Coconut oil acts as a carrier. It helps the castor oil spread evenly, sink better into the scalp, and reduces that heavy, uncomfortable feeling. Together, they create a simple but effective oil blend that many people swear by for regrowth in thinning areas.

3/5

The best combination

To use it, take two tablespoons of coconut oil and one tablespoon of castor oil. Warm it slightly, just enough so it’s comfortable on the scalp. Apply it directly on bald patches and massage gently using your fingertips. Don’t rush this part. A slow massage helps boost circulation, which is key for hair growth.

Leave the oil on for at least one hour. If your scalp suits it, you can even keep it overnight. Wash it off with a mild shampoo. Do this two to three times a week, and give it time. Hair regrowth doesn’t happen overnight, especially on bald spots.

4/5

Simple and affordable

This oil mix works best on early-stage thinning or patchy hair loss. If the follicles are completely dead, no oil can bring them back. But for weak, dormant follicles, this traditional Indian oil combo can help strengthen roots and support new growth over time.

It’s simple, affordable, and deeply rooted in Indian hair care. Sometimes, the most effective solutions are the ones our homes already have.

Marriage made in heaven

Coconut oil and castor oil work beautifully together because they balance each other so well. Coconut oil is light, deeply nourishing, and helps moisture sink into the hair or skin, while castor oil is thick, rich, and known for strengthening and boosting growth. On its own, castor oil can feel heavy, but coconut oil softens it, making the blend easier to apply and absorb. Together, they lock in hydration, support healthy roots, and leave hair and skin feeling stronger, smoother, and well cared for - simple, natural, and surprisingly powerful.
