Korean make-up hacks that will give you an effortless look

The Korean beauty industry has been at the forefront for quite some time now. With all the cool new innovations, K-beauty is now becoming a large part of our beauty market. While Korean skincare is up there and much-discussed, their approach to make-up is worth talking about. K-makeup formulas are usually fortified with good-for-you ingredients in light, comfortable formulas. Here's looking at some need-to-know Korean makeup hacks.

2/6

Firstly, prep your skin

Exfoliation is key before you apply your make-up. Use a scrub that suits your skin type. Prep your skin by drenching it with hydration - serums, essences and moisturisers - that leave your skin feeling and looking bouncy and supple. When you apply a base product like a foundation or concealer, find the right colour. Apply it evenly to the skin using a brush or sponge. It's always better to apply thin layers with small doses.

3/6

Look for a cushion formula

Cushion formulas are mousse-y, silky smooth, bouncy and give out a luminous base. To apply one such formula, press the middle of the compact with the cushion to disperse the formula and then dab it around your face in a pressing, sweeping motion. It's essential to control the amount of the product and how to apply it. Don't immediately apply the content on the puff, adjust it on the middle lid of the cushion product and then apply.

4/6

Lean into fruit juice make-up

If you wish to look fresh and flushed you need to apply a watery tint on your cheeks, no powders. Tap on a cream blush with a sponge or your fingers and blend upwards and outwards. In order to apply a lip stain, it's always better to wipe the lips clean with a cleansing tissue, apply concealer to make the lip tone even and then put on the stain on top.

5/6

Go for straighter brows to look younger

Korean women like to keep their brows straight in shape even in their adulthood so that they can keep looking young. You can draw a straight line from the start point under the front of the eyebrows to the end of the eyebrows. Then, arrange and draw the eyebrows above so that they have a straight line following the guideline.

6/6

Try individual lashes

K-makeup experts like their lashes to look natural as well. You can use apply individual lashes only where you need to add volume. Depending on the shape of the eyes, you can divide them into two or six equal parts and apply lashes only where it's needed. Look for mascara that won't clump at all.
