Are nipple pasties and body tape safe in the monsoon?

Monsoon brings with it high humidity, sudden rain, and excessive sweating — conditions that can challenge the use of adhesive-based fashion products like nipple pasties and body tape. According to Kamakshi Agarwala, Founder and CEO of Butt-Chique, the issue lies largely in the type of adhesive used.

“Most nipple pasties available in the market are made with basic adhesives that don’t hold well in moisture,” says Kamakshi. “They often shift or fall off completely when exposed to sweat, rain or movement.”

However, not all products perform the same. Kamakshi explains that high-quality silicone pasties with medical-grade, sweat-resistant adhesives are far more reliable during the rainy season. “These are designed to withstand heat, humidity, and friction, making them a better choice for monsoon wear,” she adds.

Skin preparation also plays a key role in helping these products stay in place. Kamakshi recommends ensuring the skin is clean, dry, and free from oil or lotion. “Avoid using moisturiser before applying, and gently exfoliate the area if needed,” she advises. Pressing the pastie from the centre outwards can help secure the grip. For those who sweat more, a light application of antiperspirant around (not on) the area may also improve hold.

She further notes that extended wear or high movement may still affect the adhesive. “Using a sweat-proof primer can help improve grip during longer wear,” Kamakshi says.

Finally, for women with sensitive skin, she suggests choosing hypoallergenic or fabric-based options to reduce the risk of irritation.
