Set in the rustic interiors of Uttar Pradesh, the show traces the journey of Sarojini - a strong minded, well-educated girl who gets married into a family with a regressive patriarchal set up - a household governed, dominated and practically ruled by her over-bearing, chauvinistic father-in-law Dushyant! Refusing to cow down to his controlling ways like the rest of his bahus, Sarojini takes the challenge head on and strives for a healthy balance of power and influence in the household, leveraging education to her advantage.

Shiny Doshi as Sarojini: This model turned actress from Ahmedabad made her debut on the small screen with Sanjay Leela Bansali’s much-hyped popular show ‘Saraswatichandra’ on Star Plus where she played the role of Kusum. Shiny is going to play the lead in the new show airing on 20th July, ‘Sarojini’. She will be seen opposite Mohit Sehgal. Sarojini is a well-mannered, straight forward and vibrant girl studying in Delhi and aspires to be a teacher. Sarojini is a strong-headed woman who stands for woman empowerment. The show will follow her journey as the daughter-in-law who will motivate the meek women in the house to find their voice and speak up for their rights.

Mohit Sehgal as Somendra: Television’s heartthrob Mohit Sehgal will be seen playing the lead role as Somendra in Zee TV’s new show ‘Sarojini-Ek Nayi Pehal’ . Somendra is Dushyant’s younger son and a spoiled brat. He is pampered by his father and the favourite child of the family. Mohit is best known for his role of Samrat in the show ‘Miley Jab Hum Tum’ on Star One. Apart from TV shows, Mohit has also appeared in dance reality show like ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’ Season 2 in 2010.

Pankaj Tripathi as Dushyant Singh: A product of NSD and a natural actor, Pankaj Tripathi, is a famous Bollywood and TV actor. Pankaj has been roped in the new show ‘Sarojini’ and will play the role of the antagonist Dushyant (Sarojini’s father-in-law). Dushyant is the head of the family, a corrupt politician and an evil landlord that even the villagers are petrified of him. He treats women within his family as puppets and dictates their lives. Pankaj has been seen in some of the super hit films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur-Part 2’, ‘Agneepath’, ‘Dabangg’, ‘Fukrey’, ‘Singham Returns’ and many more.

Ketki Kadam as Indira: Keti is a popular face of the small screen and is mostly recognized as Humaira in Zee TV’s show ‘Qubool Hai’. She was also seen playing the role of Radha in Star Plus’ ‘Mahabharat’. Ketki has been roped in Zee TV’s ‘Sarojini’ and will be playing the role of Indira. Indira is Dushyant’s daughter whom he considers to be his lucky charm responsible for the good fortune of his family. He keeps her locked inside a room as he doesn’t want her to get married resulting in Indira losing her mental balance.

Purva Parag as Nirjhara: Nirjhara is Dushyant’s wife and has spent all her life listening to her husband’s abuses. She is not allowed to ignore or disobey her husband because of his horrific behavior towards women. Purva plays a dutiful ideal wife in Zee TV’s ‘Sarojini’.

Salina Prakash as Swara: Salina Prakash, famous for playing the role of Saraswati in hit-TV show ‘Mahadev’ and negative lead in ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ will be seeing playing the role of Swara in ‘Sarojini’. Swara is Bhaskar’s wife in the show. A well-educated spirited girl lost the spark after her marriage to Bhaskar (Dushyant’s elder son). She has never visited her parent’s house after her marriage and is again a dutiful wife but unhappy with her married life as her father-in-law Dushyant doesn’t fail to insult her every time she tries doing something.

Nitin Goswami as Bhaskar: Bhaskar is Dushyant’s elder son and takes care of his father’s business. He is dependent on his father and doesn’t take any decision without asking him. He doesn’t show any affection towards his wife Swapna and treats her bad. He is his father’s reflection. Nitin has done shows like ‘Savdhan India’ and was last seen in ‘Qubool Hai’.

Minakshi Verma as Arundhati: The veteran actress has showcased her talent on both small and big screen with characters like that of Dadi in the famous ‘Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam’. She has also done shows like ‘Shubh Vivaah’, ‘Kuch Toh Log Kahenge’ and many more. Minakshi playes the role of Arundhati who is Gajanan Singh’s wife. She is a kind hearted woman but pretends to be strict with the women of the house to avoid an outburst from Dushyant. She gossips about her daughter-in-laws to Dushyant whenever she is upset with them and later regrets her actions when Dushyant punishes them.

Sushil Bonthiyaal as Keshav: Actor Sushil has not only made his presence felt on the small screen with TV shows like ‘Phulwa’ and ‘Gustakh Dil’ but also in movies with his last release ‘Gulaab Gang’. Keshav is Sarojini’s uncle and Dushyant Singh’s munshi. He is a timid man and made sure to send Sarojini to Delhi to complete her education. Keshav’s role is of a sincere and good-natured man who gets scared easily.
