The day of a marriage is one when people look for good omens, which is why traditionally many people do not go for funerals after their marriage dates are fixed. But not Khaalid Ahamed. On the day of his wedding, he stepped out and buried an unclaimed body, just after tying the knot with his bride Farheen Firdoz.
“On my wedding day, I was surrounded by family. But here was a person who had died with no one to bury him. I wanted to be his family for one day,” says Khaalid. “I explained this to Firoz and she understood.”
