While some explained that the strange lights in the sky were due to exploding transformers, others countered that although some transformers did explode, the lights in the sky were due to a natural phenomenon. A Spanish post said it was something called Triboluminescence. Another user alluded it to a US military project carried out years ago in which, he said, only ionosphere and telecommunications were studied.
