VDGs fire at terror suspects; CASO launched in J&K’s Kishtwar

JAMMU: Security forces Tuesday launched a massive cordon-and-search operation (CASO) in Kuntwara area of J&K’s Kishtwar district after Village Defence Guards (VDGs) opened fire at suspected terrorists earlier in the day.

The latest operation comes more than a month after a fierce gunfight erupted in Kishtwar’s upper reaches on Nov 10 when holed-up terrorists rained bullets on a search party during a similar CASO in Keshawan area. “This was the same group that killed two VDGs on Nov 7,” said an official.
