Rahul Narvekar, serial entrepreneur and angel investor, lost his wife C Pallavi Rao to cancer and an autoimmune disease. This is a story in his own words of courage, survival, grit, determination, and, above all, love

Before May 18, 2021, I had cried precisely four times in my entire life. The last time I cried was in 2005, when we – my wife and I – rushed to Apollo Hospital to meet Dr Vinit Suri and heard him pronounce the two words that would dominate our lives for the next 16 years: Myasthenia Gravis.

The first thought in my head was "Amitabh Bachchan”, because I remembered that the actor also has a mild form of the same autoimmune disorder. But then I heard the doctor add more words – admission, possible surgery, then maybe radiation and chemotherapy. I remember standing in the hospital’s restroom and suddenly noticing tears in my eyes. The dominant emotion was fear.
