NEW DELHI: Regretting the loss of lives in clashes between a mob of protestors and BSF personnel at Gool in Ramban district of
Jammu and Kashmir, Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde today announced an inquiry into the incident.
"I am deeply saddened by the loss of lives and offer my condolences to the bereaved families. I have ordered and inquiry to be without any loss of time.
I assure that any use of excessive force or irresponsible action will be dealt with strictly," he told reporters here.
Shinde added that he has already asked Special DG, BSF, to conduct the inquiry. The officer will be visiting the spot tomorrow.
The Centre has also put the state government and its para-military forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir on alert as tomorrow marks the first Friday of the holy month of Ramzan.
Violence erupted in Gool when protestors, apparently agitated over a local issue concerning alleged conduct by some BSF personnel, clashed with force personnel at a BSF station. The violence led to half a dozen deaths and injured many others.
