TIRUPATI: Sri Bharathi Theertha Swamy, the 36th pontiff of Sringeri Sharada Peetham of Karnataka on Friday visited Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) and made offerings worth Rs 4 crore , TTD sources said. The seer, who is visiting Tirumala after 11 years was accorded a traditional welcome by the priests of the Tirumala temple. Later, he offered prayers and presented a Vajra Katihastam, a hand cover studded with diamonds, to Lord Venkateswara during the weekly ritual of Abhishekam.
Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) executive officer A P V N Sharma offered him with the holy sesha vastram and prasadams.
The Sringeri seer later inaugurated a building constructed by TTD garden department exclusively meant for flower decorations during the festivals that take place in Tirumala. The pontiff will also donate a Vajra Mangalaharam, which will be adorned on Goddess Padmavathi at Tiruchanoor on March 19. Meanwhile, Chittoor MP and liquor baron D K Audikeshavulu also donated two diamond-studded mangala sutras to the processional deities of Goddesses Sri Devi and Bhu Devi at Tirumala. He said this was in fulfilment of the wish of former chief priest of TTD Sri Madambakkam Srinivasacharyulu who passed away recently.
