NEW DELHI: Sonipat is one of the 10 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Haryana. It is a General category parliament seat and comprises of part of Jind district and. entire Sonipat district .
According to the 2011 census, Karnal had population of 1,450,001 of which males were 781,299 and remaining 668,702 were females. Average literacy rate was 79.12.
Schedule: Date of voting and resultThe 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Karnal will be held on 25th May (Phase 6). The counting of votes will be on June 4.
Candidates:In the Jat-dominated Sonipat constituency, both the BJP and Congress have chosen to nominate candidates who do not belong to the Jat community. BJP has fielded Mohan Lal Badoli as their candidate for the Sonipat seat. On the other hand, while Congress has given the ticket to Brahmachari to contest the election.
Main parties:In the 2019 General Assembly Elections, Ramesh Chander Kaushik of BJP won with 5,83,988 votes. The runner up was Bhupinder Singh Hooda of INC party.
