"A group of terrorists was noticed by the security forces trying to sneak into India in the Gohallan area of Uri. The group was challenged by the security forces. The infiltration bid was foiled," said officials.

Terrorist activities have increased during the last fortnight in J&K.

On June 9, a bus carrying pilgrims fell into a gorge after terrorists attack it in Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir, leaving at least nine persons dead and 33 others injured.

Massive search operations were launched to nab the terrorists and sporadic encounters have been occurring across the state since then.
