Special judge Geetanjali Goel granted the relief to Poonam on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh with one surety of like amount. On August 6, she was granted interim bail after the court noted that Poonam, Sunil Kumar Jain and Ajit Kumar Jain were not arrested during the investigation and a chargesheet had already been filed by the enforcement directorate (ED). Jain is in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the court also heard arguments on the bail pleas of co-accused Vaibhav and Ankush Jain. It took cognisance of the ED chargesheet against Jain, his wife and eight others.

ED has alleged that Jain, while functioning as a Delhi government minister from February 14, 2015 to May 31, 2017, had acquired assets, in the form of movable and immovable properties, in his name and in the name of his family members, which were disproportionate to his "known sources of income".

CBI has already filed a chargesheet against the minister under Prevention of Corruption Act for alleged "disproportionate income". ED's case is based on a CBI FIR of 2017.
