Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot tweets 'hearty welcome' to PM Modi

NEW DELHI: Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on Thursday claimed that his three-minute speech has been removed from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's event in Sikar.

"PM Modi, you are coming to Rajasthan. The PMP has removed my 3-minute address from the event. So, I will not be able to welcome you through a speech. Therefore, I am giving you a hearty welcome through this tweet," the Rajasthan CM said.

However, government sources said that there are two events being held in Sikar today. One is a government event and one is a party event. "The government event is being held precisely so that he (the CM) can participate. However, Gehlot wanted to join the physical programme in Sikar through video conferencing, which is not as per normal process or protocol," ANI reported quoting government sources.

PM Modi is set to inaugurate or lay the foundation stone of various development projects at a programme in Sikar today.

The PM will inaugurate six Eklavya Model Residential Schools located in Udaipur, Banswara, Pratapgarh and Dungarpur districts of Rajasthan. He will also inaugurate Kendriya Vidyalaya Tiwari, Jodhpur during the programme.

He will also dedicate 1.25 lakh PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSK) to the nation and launch "Urea Gold".

Modi will also address a public meeting in Sikar.
