Private hospitals have given just 16.5% of jabs

NEW DELHI: With only 16.5% Covid vaccine doses administered in private hospitals so far, the

Centre

has asked states to optimally utilise all private health facilities with required amenities for vaccination.

At present, there is a huge disparity among states in utilisation of private hospitals for vaccination. While Delhi, Telangana and Chandigarh have seen 43-50% vaccine doses given in private hospitals, Uttarakhand,

Meghalaya

and Haryana have had less than 20% doses administered in the private setup. Maharashtra with many private facilities have administered only 26.5% doses there.

The government is hopeful of the vaccinations picking up pace from April 1, when it opens up for all those above 45 years of age.
