PM Modi arrives in Kazan, Russia

PM Modi can be seen greeting the public as he arrives, in Russia's Kazan onTuesday. This visit aims to hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of the Brics summit, which is set to take place on October 23.(PTI)

'Contribute to a better planet'

The PM received a warm welcome upon his landing. He was received by the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov at the airport. Soon after landing he posted on X: "Landed in Kazan for the BRICS Summit. This is an important Summit, and the discussions here will contribute to a better planet." (ANI)

The 'heritage city'

He was offered traditional Tatar sweets by local representatives standing in traditional dresses. The Ministry of External Affairs also called Kazan 'the heritge city'.

Upon his arrival at the Hotel Korston, Modi was greeted by the Indian diaspora, holding the Indian tricolour and chanting slogans. Many were seen clicking selfies with their mobile phones.

PM welcomed with traditional Indian dance

A team of Russian artists dressed in traditional Indian attire performed to welcome Prime Minister Modi upon his arrival at the hotel, as he watched it with keen interest. They also sang a cheerful welcome song in Sanskrit as he shook hands with some of them.

Russian President Putin welcomes PM Modi

Russian President Vladimir Putin embraced Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. He welcomed PM Modi with a hug and a handshake.

PM Modi thanks Putin for 'strong friendship'

Modi thanked Putin for his "strong friendship", praised growing cooperation and the evolution of BRICS but also said that India felt the conflict in Ukraine should be ended peacefully. Speaking on the Russia-Ukraine war, PM Modi said India will fully support the early establishment of peace and stability.

PM Modi leaving after the meeting. He burst into laughter during the meeting when Russian President Vladimir Putin, on a lighter note, said that their relationship is such that PM Modi may not need any translation to understand his words.
