PM Modi files nomination for Lok Sabha elections 2024 form Varanasi

Uttar Pradesh's chief minister Yogi Adityanath stood alongside PM Modi throughout his nomination process. PM Modi was accompanied by four supporters, including astrology scholar Ganeshwar Shastri, who determined the auspicious timing for the foundation laying of Ram Janambhumi and the consecration of Ram Lalla. Other supporters included Lalchand Kushwaha, a 65-year-old textile shop owner, Sanjay Sonkar (50), the party's district unit general secretary, and Baijnath Patel from Sevapuri.

PM Modi was accompanied on his nomination by the likes of Union home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda along with a big band of NDA leaders including SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar and dozen CMs of BJP and NDA states. (PTI image)

PM Modi offered prayers to Kashi Kotwal Baba Kal Bhairav. Prior to filing his papers, PM Modi also offered prayers at Dashashwamedh Ghat followed by Kaal Bhairav temple.

Before filing nomination at Varanasi Collectorate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi boarded a cruise ship at Dasaswamedh Ghat to the Namo Ghat.

PM Modi held an extravagant roadshow in Varanasi on a five-kilometre-stretch. PM Modi was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP state president Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh. The whole stretch was reverberating with 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Jai Shree Ram' chants as a huge crowd of supporters and residents gathered on either side of the road to cheer the Prime Minister.

"My relationship with my Kashi is amazing, inseparable and incomparable… all I can say is that it cannot be expressed in words", the PM wrote on X, ahead of filing nomination.

Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde, former Andhra CM Chandra Babu NaiduHardeep were among the NDA alies to join PM Modi's nomination filing at Varanasi. (PTI image)
