NEW DELHI: Uttarakhand Lok Sabha election date is scheduled on April 19. People of Uttarakhand will cast their ballots in a single phase, according to the Election commission of India. Chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Saturday announced that the 2024 Lok Sabha polls will be held in 7 phases from April 19 to June 1. The seven phases will cover 543 constituencies.
Uttarakhand, the first state to pass the Universal Civil Code, is gearing up for the 18th Lok Sabha elections. Nestled in the Himalayas, the state has been a battleground for the BJP and Congress in previous polls.

Lok Sabha Election Schedule In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP secured all seats, sidelining Congress leaders like Harish Rawat. With 47 out of 70 assembly seats, BJP dominated in the 2022 assembly polls, while Congress improved to 19 seats post-2019 defeat. BSP and Independents hold 2 seats each.
Among the 543 Lok Sabha seats, Uttarakhand contributes just five, one reserved for SC candidates. BJP has nominated Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Anil Baluni, Ajay Tamta, Ajay Bhatt, and Trivendra Singh Rawat for the 2024 polls.
Congress's second list features Jot Singh Guntsola, Ganesh Godiyal, and Pradeep Tamta. The state anticipates a dynamic electoral contest as parties prepare to woo voters in the upcoming elections.
The Election Commission announced the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The voting will be conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19, as informed by Chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar. The final results will be declared on June 4.
The voting dates are as follows: Phase 1 on April 19, Phase 2 on April 26, Phase 3 on May 7, Phase 4 on May 13, Phase 5 on May 20, Phase 6 on May 25, and Phase 7 on June 1. The current Lok Sabha's term concludes on June 16, necessitating the formation of a new House before that.
Additionally, the tenures of Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Odisha assemblies will also end in June. The model code of conduct is now in effect following the announcement of the election dates.
