Kailash Gahlot resigns from AAP citing internal challenges

Delhi minister Kailash Gehlot on Sunday resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He has held key positions within the Delhi government, including the portfolios of Transport, Law and Revenue. He also said that party's focus from serving the public to pursuing political ambitions has hindered the delivery of basic services in Delhi.

'Controversies like the 'Sheeshmahal' embarrassing,' wrote Gehlot in his letter.

Gahlot in his letter to AAP's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote that there are many embarrassing and awkward controversies like the 'Sheeshmahal', which are now making everyone doubt whether we still believe in being the Aam Aadmi.

Gahlot criticizes AAP for ignoring key promises like Yamuna cleanup

Gehlot also highlighted the party's failure in fulfilling its promise of transforming the Yamuna River. "Take for example the Yamuna, which we had promised to transform into a clean river, but never got around to doing it. Now the Yamuna River is perhaps even more polluted than ever before," he wrote In his resignation letter.

Expressed disappointment over party's shift in priorities

Gehlot also expressed disappointment over the party's shift in priorities and said that instead of fighting for people's rights, we have increasingly only been fighting for our own political agenda. This has severely crippled our ability to even deliver basic services to the people of Delhi, he added.

BJP praises Gahlot's decision

Following Gahlot's resignation, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva praised his decision, describing it as a brave move and claiming Gahlot no longer wants to be associated with Kejriwal's alleged "lootera" group.

AAP blames BJP for Gehlot's decision

AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that Gehlot's resignation is a part of BJP's dirty politics and conspiracy. He added that pressure was created on Kailash Gehlot by conducting ED-CBI raids and now he is speaking according to the script given to him by BJP.

Meanwhile, Ex-BJP MLA Anil Jha joins AAP

Former BJP MLA Anil Jha joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday in the presence of party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. The two-time BJP MLA from the Kirari Assembly constituency, made the switch just hours after Gehlot's resignation.
