"Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists have been apprehended from Sounder village of Dachhan and some arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession,” police sources said, adding that the terrorists “had joined the HM terrorist outfit locally.”

Shafqat Hussain, senior superintendent of police, Kishtwar, confirmed the arrest.

"The duo has been identified as Yasir Hussain son of

Ghulam Rasool

, a resident of

Sounder-Dachhan

, and Usman Qadir son of Ghulam Qadir, a resident of

Tander-Dachhan

. The two had reportedly been missing since August 5," the superintendent said.

"However, on August 7, the Dachhan police station got to know that both missing had joined the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit with the intention to endanger the integrity and sovereignty of the nation. On this information, a case FIR no 18/2021 U/S 13/18-B ULA (P) had been registered with the station," he added.

After receiving specific information regarding their presence in the area of Tander Dachhan on August 8, a police party led by Devinder Singh Bandral along with troops of Army & CRPF conducted search operations in the area, said Hussain.

"After putting in hard efforts and negotiating the arduous terrain of the area, security forces managed to arrest both of the newly recruited terrorists," Hussain said.

On February 18, the national investigation agency (NIA) had arrested Taraq Hussain Giri, a resident of Kishtwar district, on the charges of his alleged role in harbouring terrorists and providing logistical support to the Hizbul operatives in Jammu and Kashmir.

The NIA had also arrested Hizbul terrorist Rustam Ali, involved in the killing of RSS activist Chander Kant Sharma and his personal security officer from Kishtwar on May 20 last year.
