was awarded the second-highest wartime gallantry medal - the Mahavir Chakra (posthumously) by President Ram Nath Kovind in an investiture ceremony on Tuesday.Operation Snow Leopard
, and was among the 20 Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the fierce hand-to-hand combat on June 15 in the Galwan Valley.His mother and wife received the award from President.
Besides Colonel Babu,
Naib Subedar Nuduram Soren
, Havildar K Palani,Naik Deepak Singh
,Sepoy Gurtej Singh
will receive theirVir Chakras
posthumously for their gallant actions against the vicious attack by the Chinese Army in the Galwan Valley in June last year as part of the Operation Snow Leopard.(With inputs from agencies)

I have often thought that , as a nation, out priorities are highly misplaced, regarding who we choose to be our heroes, Bollywood stars and cricket players who charge a bomb to let us watch them play or the soldiers who stand guard and takes the bombs and bullets, so that we may live with all the freedoms they forgo, so we may happily spend time with our families watching our kids grow up and so we may sleep well at night knowing somebody's got our back, shielding us from all the hardships they endure and blood they let out, stopping our enemies using whatever means necessary, guns, bombs, even sticks, stones and now, fists, saying " Not On My Watch! " I salute Col..Babu and his men and all those who fell before them, all those still serving and those getting ready to, for their service and sacrifice. RESPECT! JAI HIND! ��Read allPost comment
