Firozpur constituency of Punjab Lok Sabha Election 2024: Date of voting, result, candidates list, main parties, schedule

NEW DELHI: Firozpur Lok Sabha constituency, one of the 13 parliamentary constituencies in Punjab, is scheduled to vote in Phase 7 of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1. The counting of votes for the constituency will take place on June 4.

Firozpur comprises the entire Fazilka district, part of Firozpur district, and part of Muktsar district. The constituency includes nine Assembly segments: Firozpur City, Firozpur Rural, Guruharsahai, Jalalabad, Fazilka, Abohar, Balluana, Malout, and Muktsar.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Sukhbir Singh Badal from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) won the seat with a margin of 198,850 votes. Sukhbir Singh Badal polled 6,33,427 votes, achieving a vote share of 54.00%, defeating Sher Singh Ghubaya from the Indian National Congress (INC), who received 4,34,577 votes (37.05%).

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Sher Singh Ghubaya from SAD won the seat with 4,87,932 votes, securing a vote share of 44.13%. The INC candidate, Sunil Jakhar, received 4,56,512 votes (41.29%), and was the runner-up. Sher Singh Ghubaya defeated Sunil Jakhar by a margin of 31,420 votes.

In the upcoming election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Gurmit Singh Sodhi as its candidate from Firozpur constituency. The INC has once again nominated Sher Singh Ghubaya. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has selected Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar to represent the party.
