EC: Those displaced by Manipur violence can vote from relief camps

NEW DELHI: People living in relief shelters in Manipur after being displaced by the ethnic violence in the state will be allowed to cast their votes from their camps in the Lok Sabha elections.

Chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar, while announcing the poll dates on Saturday, said, "There are persons who are displaced, who are in camps. We have drawn a scheme which we have notified to allow voters in the camps to vote from the camp itself. Like we do for migrants in Jammu and Kashmir, here also voters would be allowed to vote from their respective camps. My appeal to voters - let us decide through the voters peacefully by participating in the elections. We will make all the arrangements."
