EC squad seizes 2500 clocks with pics of BJP candidate, CM & PM

Poll officials in Sidhi district, Madhya Pradesh, seized over 2500 wall clocks featuring pictures of local BJP candidate Riti Pathak, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They also confiscated 780 blankets. The action was taken in response to complaints made by local INC leaders. The district collector will review the seized items to determine their legality.

BHOPAL: More than 2500 wall clocks with pictures of local BJP candidate from Sidhi constituency Riti Pathak, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with 780 blankets were seized by poll officials in Sidhi district in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
Office of the chief electoral officer, Madhya Pradesh has also sought a report over the issue from the district collector.

The move came in response to complaints made by the local INC leaders. As per official sources, a flying squad led by sub-inspector Varsha Yadav seized a total of 61 wall clocks with pictures of local BJP candidate, PM and CM. Another team of flying squad led by Toshi Tiwari seized 2500 wall clocks and 780 blankets from a private polytechnic college. Thus overall a total of 2561 wall clocks and 780 blankets have been seized by the poll officials in Sidhi district.
District collector Sidhi, Saket Malviya said, "As per the instructions of the election commission of India, there is district level committee both the parties will present before it and with their claims and documents and decision will be then taken whether the seized items fall in purview of legal or illegal items, and further course of action will be decided thereupon as per the norms".
Sources said that the local INC leader advocate Vinod Sharma had made a complaint with district collector, SDM and other officials in this regard, following which the seizures were made. While two seizures were made late on Sunday night, the second seizure from a polytechnic college was made at 1 am on Monday, added sources.
BJP has fielded Sidhi MP Riti Pathak from the constituency, Kedarnath Shukla was the incumbent BJP MLA but instead a Shukla ticket was given to Pathak. Shukla's name has come in the infamous peeing incident in Sidhi where the accused was said to be representative of Shukla, said sources.
