Don’t fall into anti-CAA protest trap, vote against BJP: Mehbooba
SRINAGAR: J&K PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday alleged Centre’s notification of CAA rules was the latest tool of BJP to trigger communal discord for its political gains, urging Muslims to vote against the saffron party.
"In the past 10 years, BJP government has failed to contain rising unemployment, farmers’ suicide, and inflation. Now they are trying to divert people’s attention by triggering communal riots. I appeal to both Hindus and Muslims not to fall all in their trap," Mehbooba told reporters.
She urged Muslims not to hit roads in protest against CAA but use their right to franchise to oust BJP. "It is high time Muslims across the country give BJP a befitting reply,” said PDP chief.
Mehbooba also raised concerns about alleged acquisition of agricultural lands for railway projects. "Fruit industry is the backbone of J&K economy. Railway projects are good things, but it should not be at the cost of cutting down apple trees and ruining the livelihood of the locals. There should have been a proper mechanism. We should not make J&K another Uttarakhand," she added.
