CHENNAI: The case diary in connection with the murder of the Varadaraja Perumal temple manager A Shankararaman was presented to the Madras High Court on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Justice R Balasubramaniam, while reserving orders on the seer’s bail petition, had directed the prosecution bench to produce the case diary, the judicial confession and other additional material.
The Acharya’s counsel, I Subramaniam, presented more citations in Justice Balasubramaniam’s chamber. The reply by the prosecution bench will be presented on Thursday.
Subramaniam claimed that Sections 437 and 439 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) stood on different footings. The law laid down by the Supreme Court in the Pappu Yadav case was not a general principle of law. If it was so, no High Court could grant bail in non-bailable offences, he contended.
