Can’t equate Manipur with Rajasthan & Chhattisgarh’garh: Opposition to PM Modi

Raipur/Patna/Kolkata: Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel of Congress, Bihar’s governing coalition, and Trinamool Congress of Bengal accused the BJP-led Union and Manipur governments of hubris and inertia while dealing with the ethnic crisis in the northeastern state.

Baghel led the charge on Thursday and criticised PM Narendra Modi’s comparison of violence in Manipur with the law-and-order situation in Congress-governed Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also criticised PM Modi for equating Manipur with Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and urged people to consider the government’s treatment of minorities, women, and Dalits.

Banerjee expressed her heartbreak and outrage over a viral video of two Manipur women being stripped, molested, and paraded naked.

Leaders of Bihar’s governing coalition, including RJD, JD(U), Congress, and CPI-ML, criticised the Centre for doing little to bring peace in Manipur, following a clip showing a mob parading two naked omen and molesting them.
