Jhansi Fort, located in the heart of Jhansi city, played a crucial role in resisting British colonial rule under Rani Lakshmi Bai leadership during the Revolt of 1857. This historic fort attracts numerous visitors every year, thanks to its rich legacy. Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo (1606-27) of Orchha built the fort on a rocky hill called Bangra. The fort features ten gates, including Khandero Gate, Datia Darwaza, Unnao Gate, Jharna Gate, Laxmi Gate, Sagar Gate, Orcha Gate, Sainyar Gate, and Chand Gate.

Chitrakoot

Chitrakoot, also known as the hill of many wonders, is located in the northern region of the Vindhyas. It is a serene place with lush forests, calm rivers, and gushing streams. Chitrakoot holds a rich spiritual legacy, as it is believed that Lord Rama, along with Sita and Laxmana, spent eleven years of their fourteen-year exile in these deep forests. It is also the place where the great sage Atri and Sati Anusuya meditated for years. Additionally, Chitrakoot is significant as the birthplace of the Hindu trinity- Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. With its abundant offerings, Chitrakoot is a paradise for pilgrims.

Samthar Fort

Samthar, a once powerful princely state located 60 km north of Jhansi, is renowned for its impressive fort. The fort is a remarkable blend of Bundelkhandi and French architectural styles. Its origins can be traced back to the 16th century when Samsher Khan, a Subedar of Mughal Emperor Babur, built a small fort named "Shamshergarh" after himself. Initially used as a check-post by the Mughals, it later became part of the Bundela kingdom of Datia. Even today, Samthar Fort is surrounded by a moat and features three-tiered battlements, gun emplacements, and three concentric layers of walls.

Deogarh (Lalitpur)

Deogarh in Lalitpur district is located on the right bank of Betwa River and to the west of Lalitpur hills. It is known for Gupta monuments and for many ancient monuments of Hindu and Jain origins in and outside the walls of the fort. The Gupta temple dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, popularly known as the Dashavatara Temple and dated to the 6th-century CE is the earliest known Panchyatana temple in North India. The fort on the hill is dominated by a cluster of Jain temples on its eastern part, the oldest of these dating to the 8th or 9th century.

Dudhai (Lalitpur)

Dudhai holds a lost example of Chandella heritage. A giant Narasimha icon, 40 feet high, stands undated on a hill wall, hinting at its past significance. Nearby, Hindu and Jain temples stand beside a dried-up Chandella water body. In a nearby forest, the remains of a circular Yogini shrine can be found.

The temple, also known as Rahiliya temple, is situated 3 km southwest of Mahoba near Mirtala and Rahiliya village. It served as a place of worship for the Chandela kings, who revered the sun.

Kalinjar fort (Banda)

The Kalinjar hill, once a shrine mentioned in Hindu scriptures, transformed into a fort over time. Built around 2000 years ago, it attracted the attention of various dynasties including the Kalachuris, Rashtrakutas, Pratiharas, and Chandellas. It successfully defended against Mahmud Ghazni and witnessed the demise of Sher Shah Suri during a siege. Later, it came under the rule of the Bundelas and others.
