BJP had electoral and moral mandate: Ravi Shankar Prasad

NEW DELHI: BJP on Saturday said it had the “electoral and moral” mandate to form government in Maharashtra as it justified its tie-up with Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction and expressed confidence to prove majority on the floor of the assembly.

At a press conference, BJP leader and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad hit out at Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena, saying those who were “dead opposed” to each other joined hands to “grab” power, while the

party and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis had won the popular mandate to form government.“If Sena sacrifices its principles to ally with Congress, then this is a “respect” for democracy but if BJP works for a stable government and is supported by a big section of NCP, this is against it,” Prasad said in response to Congress allegation of “murder of democracy”.
