BJP appoints central observers in Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh for CM selection
NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced observers for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh where it recently won assembly polls, initiating the process to finalise chief ministers in the states.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh will lead the three-member team of observers for Rajasthan. Others in his team include party general secretary Vinod Tawde and vice president Saroj Pandey.
For Madhya Pradesh, OBC Morcha chief and Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman, Asha Lakra and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar have been appointed observers.
Union ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Arjun Munda and senior party functionary Dushyant Gautam are observers for Chhattisgarh.
The observers for the three states are likely to visit the respective states on Saturday, therefore, announcement of chief ministers for all three states are likely by the weekend.
Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje had called on party president JP Nadda on Thursday evening.
