Assembly polls: Congress announces six guarantees in Telangana

NEW DELHI: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday said that the party will implement its six guarantees in Telangana if it comes to power adding that the grand old party is known for keeping the promises.

So, what are the six guarantees by Congress in Telangana?

• Under ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, women will get 2,500 every month, gas cylinder for Rs 500 and free bus travel.
• Under ‘Rythu Bharosa’, farmers & lease holders will get Rs 15,000 while farm labourers will get Rs 12,000 per year. Bonus of Rs 500 per quintal will be given on paddy.
• Under the ‘Grih Jyoti’ scheme, 200-unit electricity will be provided free.
• Under ‘Indira Amma Indloo’ scheme, free land and aid of Rs 5 lakh will be given for construction of houses.
• Senior citizens will be given pension of Rs. 4,000 and under ‘Rajya Arogyashri’, they will be provided health insurance up to Rs 10 lakh.
• Under ‘Yuva Vikasam’, students will be given assistance of Rs. 5 lakh and International Schools will be opened in every district of Telangana.

Kharge while addressing a rally in Telangana's Sangareddy on Sunday said that we have fulfilled four of five guarantees in Karnataka. And we will soon implement the fifth guarantee.

He attacked Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao saying "KCR ji kept doing whatever he wanted and asked "who benefitted from it?" "Did students, women and farmers benefit? That's why the Congress party is giving you six guarantees," he said.

Kharge also hit out at the ruling BJP and said that instead of giving 18 crore jobs in the last nine years, BJP is distributing certificates for a mere 3,000-4,000 jobs.

UPA government brought welfare schemes like MGNREGA, Right to Education, Food Security, Health Mission, still BJP questions our achievemnts, Kharge said.

"BJP leaders keep on asking - what has Congress done in 70 years? Did BJP bring Independence for the country? Now ‘B’ team of BJP – BRS - has also started asking such questions.
