8 killed as bus, MUV collide head-on in Jind

JIND: Eight people, including a woman, died while nine others were injured following a head-on collision between a Haryana roadways bus and a Cruiser on Bhiwani Jind Road near Bibipur village in Haryana's Jind district on Saturday.

All the deceased were on the Cruiser and belonged to Haryana. One passenger was missing till the time of going to press, reports Vijender Kumar.

The accident took place when the bus driver was trying to overtake another vehicle, and perhaps blinded by rain, rammed into the Cruiser. As it was completely wrecked, the rescue team had to cut parts of the vehicle to extricate the bodies, officials said. A case of rash driving was registered against the bus driver on the complaint of a victim's relative.
