It has to be my co-actor Nimit Kotian. We are always there for each other and what holds us together is our passion for dance. And yes, we are there for each other even during the wee hours. It might sound funny, but I am the one who rescues Nimit from his fear of ghosts, be it at 2 or 3 am. It’s six years since we are friends; we have a great tuning.

My dial-a-friend-in-distress would be Aamna Shariff. We first met in college, but the bonding really took off around six years ago. We don’t meet often, but there’s still a strong connect. We are more like family and have stood by each other every time. She was at my wedding and I was happiest at her wedding. What’s common, is that we are foodies, movie buffs, travel junkies and like taking potshots at each other. Now, she is going to have a baby, which is sure to bring more joy.

That one call I would make in times of distress would be to Shaleen Malhotra. We have been friends since seven years now. In fact, I shifted to Goregaon to stay close to him. He is one of those friends who makes fun of my singing, but in real life he loves my music. He keeps joking about how he spotted me singing on one of those local trains. We bond the most over cricket and video games. We can speak for hours on the phone. I don’t remember talking that long to even my girlfriend Kishwer (Merchantt).

All my friends are my 4 am friends. But I end up calling Praneeta Sahu at the oddest hour without hesitation. Besides, she lives the closest. I have known her for six years now. She is more of a sister and has stood by me through thick and thin. There isn’t one instance when Praneeta has not come to my rescue. She has been instrumental in helping me brave many storms in my personal life. Though we differ on many issues, we love to talk and discuss everything — from girlie gossip, to work and home matters.

My 4 am friend would be my cousin Krushna Abhishek. Apart from comedy, we both bond over oats. He relishes the oats prepared at my house and drops by or has it delivered at his doorstep whenever he wants. I can’t remember a single occasion when I wanted him to be around and he wasn’t there. It takes a lot for us to let new people in our lives.

I am usually a 4 am friend to everyone around me since I sleep really late. But for me, it has to be my husband Gurmeet (Choudhary) for reasons beyond explanation. He knows my life inside out. He knows exactly what to tell me and how to get me to do things. It’s a special bond. We bond over everything, not just movies. When we were dating, Gurmeet and I would speak for endless hours — a habit that hasn’t changed even now. Before we got married, I remember a time when I was missing him a lot and within hours, he was under my building to take me out for a drive.

Sakshi Tanwar is both my 4 am and 4 pm friend. She’s more like a sister. We discuss everything under the sun, including what we eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have been there for each other in crisis and happiness. We are poles apart as personalities, but what has got together, is the fact that we are identical as souls. Guess you can call us soul sisters. The catch is, that even if I wake her up at 2 am, I’ll have to pick her up because she can't drive.
